Vitovill Garment Steamer Review

You’re getting ready to go out. You’re running late but it’s ok because all you have left to do is get dressed. You grab your favorite set of clothes, start putting them on, and… they’re wrinkled. You don’t want to go out with wrinkled clothes but you don’t have time to dig out the ironing board and wait for the iron to heat up. There must be a better way.

This is where the Vitovill Garment Steamer comes in. It’s a compact and portable device for steaming your garments, upholstery and many other types of fabric. It claims to not only remove wrinkles, but that it also cleans and even deodorizes. The reviews on the web are pretty strong for this product (more on this below), but does it live up to the hype? Let’s find out.

Notable Features:

  • 1000 w of power
  • 100 ml Removable water tank
  • Purple and white in color
  • Ergonomic grip
  • 2x safety power off protection

First off, this thing looks pretty cool. It’s very sleek and modern and has no corners, just curves. It’s quite small but just a touch bigger and heavier than they try to make it seem.

It comes with 2 brushes, one for durable materials like denim, and another for more delicate materials, such as silk or wool. The brushes also act as a pet hair remover which is a plus over traditional irons.

It heats up very quickly and even has an automatic shutoff protection built in should the temperature get too high or the water level too low.

Does it Work?

This is where things start to head south for the Vitovill Garment Steamer. It does technically work. It will remove wrinkles, and hot steam does help with cleaning and deodorizing. The problems arise when you begin to see how long it takes to actually remove wrinkles.

It can take up to 20 minutes on heavier fabrics with lots of wrinkling. This can make it difficult because the device only provides 7 minutes of continuous steam.

Another major drawback is that the item you’re cleaning must be hanging because the steamer will only work vertically. This means your unable to lay the item on a table or floor, and it’s not always easy to find a good hanging spot.

The pet hair removal works well enough but it takes a few passes to get enough off to leave you satisfied. The hair isn’t really its main use anyway so you’d be better off using a lint roller for this purpose.

One of the biggest red flags is the Amazon reviews. Many of them are quite obviously fake. This is apparent just by reading them and seeing the over-the-top positivity and frequent use of buzz words. If you need more convincing, fakespot.com, the trusted investigative site, estimates that a whopping 62% of the reviews for this product are fake.

Pros

  • Decent price
  • Does remove wrinkles
  • Looks great
  • Heats up fast
  • Safety shutoff

Cons

  • Takes a bit too long for results
  • Won’t work facing downward
  • Fake reviews

Final Verdict

The Vitovill Garment Steamer does what it says it will do, just a little less efficiently than you might hope. It doesn’t cost a whole lot and if you’re travelling it could be handy to bring along to give your clothes a steam if needed.

It’s hard to recommend it for everyday use because, other than not needing an ironing board, it doesn’t really have any big advantages over your regular iron. Even the quick heat up time is negated by the time required to finish the job. Plus, If it was really as great as they claim, they wouldn’t need fake reviews to boost its credibility.

All in all, if you can't get our top pick in this category, the Sunbeam, or you see this one on deep discount, then go for it. Otherwise, it’s probably a pass.
